Learn · The dice

Every game rolls its own dice.

Elrune shows each system’s dice as they are, and every roll at a table is made on our server: the dice you see only settle on the result.

Game system: BRP

BRP

Two ten-sided dice rolled together: the tens die (00 to 90) and the ones die (0 to 9).

Read them as one number from 01 to 100 (00 and 0 is 100). Roll your skill or under to succeed; the lower the roll, the better, and a low enough roll is a special or a critical success.

D100: 40, 2

Game system: 5E

5E

One twenty-sided die for checks, saves and attacks; damage uses the weapon’s or spell’s dice, from d4 to d12.

Add your bonus and meet or beat the Difficulty Class. With Advantage you roll two d20 and keep the higher, with Disadvantage the lower.

d20: 14

Game system: Aspects and Fate Points

Aspects and Fate Points

Four Fate dice: six-sided, with two plus, two minus and two blank faces.

Add them up (from −4 to +4) and add your skill on the ladder, then compare with the opposition.

Fate dice: plus, blank, minus, plus

Game system: Forged in the Dark

Forged in the Dark

A pool of six-sided dice, one for each dot in the action, plus any you gain.

Read the highest die: a 6 is a full success, a 4 or 5 a partial success, 1 to 3 a bad outcome, and two sixes a critical. With no dots, roll two and keep the lower.

d6: 2, 5, 3; 5 counts

Game system: Into the Wood

Into the Wood

A twenty-sided die for saves; the weapon’s die, from d4 to d12, for damage.

Roll your attribute or under to pass a save (a 1 always passes, a 20 always fails). Attacks always hit: roll the damage dice, keep the highest when several attack, and armour takes away from it.

Save, d20: 9. Damage, d6: 4

Every die

Exact shapes with real numbering: opposite faces of a d6, d8, d12 and d20 add up to one more than the die’s size. A d4 has no top face, so its number is printed at the tip or along the bottom edge.

d4, read at the tip showing 3 · d4, read at the edge showing 4 · d6 showing 5 · d6 with pips showing 6 · Fate die showing plus · d8 showing 7 · d10 (1 to 10) showing 10 · d10 (0 to 9) showing 7 · tens die (00 to 90) showing 60 · d12 showing 11 · d20 showing 20

Typing a roll

Every table has a dice tray: quick buttons for d4 to d100, the system’s own dice, and a box for any roll. A GM can roll hidden; a player can roll to the GM alone. Up to 100 dice in a roll.
