Pricing

The game master pays. The table plays.

One plan hosts your table. Players pay nothing to join. AI help, when you want it, runs on prepaid credits and never sends a surprise bill.

Prices are planned for when Elrune opens. Nothing is charged during Alpha, and nothing renews into a paid plan on its own. You will be told before anything changes.

For game masters

For players

Players pay nothing to join

Make characters, roll dice, chat, keep the journal and play on the 3D table at any table you are invited to. The game master’s plan covers the table. Sessions with a professional game master cost what that game master charges.

Prepaid

AI credits

Prepaid, for usage. Things that cost us to run, AI first, are paid from credits you buy in advance. One credit is about $0.01 of list value. AI is priced at what the AI provider charges us, times 2 to cover payment fees, tax and running it.

Metered, never rounded up per request. Use is measured in thousandths of a credit. Whole credits are taken only as use adds up, and any part of a credit you have paid for carries to your next request.

No surprise bills. A request sets aside its largest possible cost first and returns what it did not use. When credits run out, AI stops. Daily limits per game master and per campaign stop runaway use.

Promotional credits come first. Credits Elrune gives you are not money and cannot be withdrawn; they are used before credits you bought.

  • Starter500 credits$5
  • Table1,100 credits$10
  • Campaign3,000 credits$25

Questions

Good to know

Do my players need to pay?

No. Players pay nothing to join a table they are invited to: they make characters, roll, chat and play. The game master’s plan covers the table.

What is a live table?

A table with a fight running on the board at that moment. You can keep as many saved campaigns as you like; only running two tables at the same time needs a second live table. A table that sits idle releases its slot by itself.

Can I cancel?

Yes, at any time, in one step from your account (the payment provider’s customer portal). You keep the plan until the end of the period you paid for, and nothing renews after that. Your characters and campaigns are never deleted because a plan ends.

Who handles the payment, tax and receipts?

Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record. Paddle processes the payment, charges the VAT or sales tax that applies where you live, and sends the receipt or invoice. Elrune never sees or stores your card details.

What about refunds?

See the refund policy. Refunds go back through the payment provider to the way you paid.

How does AI work, and what does it cost?

AI help is off until the game master turns it on for a campaign. It is paid from prepaid credits: you buy a pack first, then use it. Each request sets aside its largest possible cost, and you pay only what it really used, metered in thousandths of a credit. When credits run out, AI stops; it never sends a bill. Anything AI writes is labelled as AI-generated.

Is there a trial?

During Early Bird, new game masters can start a trial: one live table for a set number of days, with no card. When it ends nothing is charged; a paid plan only starts if you choose one at checkout.

Which game systems can I run?

A plan pays for hosting live tables, whatever system you run. It does not sell any publisher’s rules: game systems appear in Elrune under their own licences, and features specific to one system only become paid once its licence allows it.
