The story

For ninety years a great lantern has burned every night on the ruined keep above the market town of Bellwick. Three nights ago it went dark. Since then a grey mist has rolled down off Harrow Tor at sundown, the dead have walked in the square, and the Keeper of the Flame, who climbed up to relight it, has not come back. The Reeve is offering a reward to anyone who will go up the tor. Somebody in Bellwick knows exactly why the light went out, and something under the keep has been waiting a very long time for the dark.

A three-session 5E compatible (SRD 5.1) adventure for four or five heroes of 1st to 3rd level: a town under siege by the dead, a witness who is afraid to talk, a charming culprit with a debt, a ruined keep with a trapped stair and iron guardians, a lantern that must be relit by solving the founders’ riddle, and a polite, hungry thing that wants it to stay dark.
