GAME SYSTEMSGame system: Aspects and Fate Points

Aspects and Fate Points

Story first: aspects you invoke with fate points, skills on a ladder.

Rules
Based on Fate Core System
Dice
Four Fate dice added to a skill

How it plays

Roll four Fate dice, add your skill and read the result on the ladder against the opposition.

  1. 1Four Fate dice show plus, minus or blank, from −4 to +4
  2. 2Add your skill and read the total on the ladder, Mediocre (+0) to Legendary (+8)
  3. 3Four outcomes: fail, tie, succeed, succeed with style
  4. 4Four actions: overcome, create an advantage, attack, defend
  5. 5Spend a fate point to invoke an aspect for +2 or a reroll
  6. 6No hit points: stress boxes and consequences absorb a hit

What Elrune runs at the table

  • The 4dF roll, the ladder, the four outcomes and shifts
  • The four actions, passive and active opposition, invoking aspects for +2 or a reroll
  • Aspects of every kind with their invokes, boosts and compels, and the fate point economy with refresh and the GM pool
  • Skills in a pyramid or columns, stunts from the rules content or your own
  • Stress and consequences with every legal way to absorb a hit, taken out and conceding
  • Conflicts with turn order, zones on the board, contests and challenges
  • Milestones: minor, significant and major

The GM runs by hand: Stunt effects (written on the sheet; the GM applies them), mobs, Extras, and invokes on contest and challenge rolls
